Chlamydia

Chlamydia is a frequently occurring sexually transmitted disease caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. The infection is often asymptomatic and can cause infertility. In men, it may lead to inflammation of the urethra, the epididymis, and the prostate. In women, chlamydial infection can result in cervical eversion or inflammation of the fallopian tubes. Currently, chlamydia is often diagnosed when the cause of infertility is sought. The treatment involves the oral administration of antibiotics.
